Should I Go To The Gym During the Covid-19 Crisis?

Great question we got here and I honestly wish I can give you the straightforward answer but I can’t.

So the answer is it depends.

Here are some of the questions you should ask yourself before making that decision of going back to the gym.

  • What is your age? Age is one of the main components in determining your risk of death after catching the disease.

  • Do you have pre-existing conditions 💊🤒? Pre-existing conditions such as lung disease, heart problem and diabetes can put you at a higher risk.

  • Who else are you putting at risk? The people that you are in constant contact with 👪(friends, family, co-workers)

Below is a table that detailed your risk of death depending on your age and whether you have pre-existing conditions. Apply that to yourself and the people that you are in frequent contact with.

I know there can be 2 very loud and complete opposing sides in the midst of this crisis but I urged you to do what you feel is safe after looking at your risks and the numbers.

If you decide to go back to the gym again, then here are my recommendation

Wear a mask and gloves if necessary (working out in a mask is very difficult). Wash your hands before and after your workout. Wipe down the things you used before and after.

If you decide to stay home, there are plenty of free remote workout options ðŸ“±.

  1. Nike Training Club: The big brand of fitness which we’ve all heard about waived their regular $15/month for their online training indefinitely.

  2. Peloton: My client actually owns one of these bikes but it’s not necessary to get the bike because they also offer amazing yoga, Pilates and strength training classes you can do at home. They extended their trial period from 30 days to 90 days!

  3. Rumble: They are on Instagram as @doyourumble and they live stream boxing inspired classes every morning. (typically @8 a.m. ET)

  4. Keep: A super popular and highly rated workout apps. They have both free options and paid.
